Anything and everything about Chandigarh, a young, modern city stuck between a hoary past and a confusing future. This blog intends to give you a view from Chandigarh, of all that is happening in this world, and beyond. I write it, but it reflects multiple views and thoughts, 'coz I am a mere observer, whose thoughts are shaped by the environment in which I exist.

Time to shake up the sleepy place

To the metropolitans, that is people coming from the metros, Chandigarh comes across as a sleepy little place with nothing but the booze ahhatas in the name of social high points. Well you and me know that this insinuation does not carry any weight. All the same, you cannot blame these ignorant souls for their limited knowledge of the city. For we do not have any media that gives an unadulterated view of Chandigarh's underbelly. There are the newspapers, in fact one too many considering the population of the city, manned by lazy, dumb and insecure reporters who come up with an occasional story or two. But these are few and far between. And, the electronic media is conspicuous by its sheer lack of application. Correspondents of TV channels, NDTV, CNNIBN, AajTak, Zee, are busy racking in the quick buck by presenting fake travel and hotel bills to their accounts departments. Talking to Manu Sharma in his office, in the guise of student activists, is what these guys have to show in the name of a scoop. This space is meant to change this and more.Watch out! The fun has just begun!

    • Book: Presently, I am reading Blink, a highly recommended book authored by Malcolm Gladwell. Though I am in the middle of it, I have read enough to appreciate the reason behind its top ratings. The book deserves to be reviewed and discussed. More on that when I finish it.
    • Movie: The Englishman Who Went up a Hill and Came Down a Mountain. Starring Hugh Grant
